The Occults

The occults have been around since the dawn of man.There are many types of occults today. We can only look at a few of them. The definition of the word“occult” by Webster’s Dictionary is; 1. Of, relating to, or dealing with supernatural influences, agencies, or phenomena. This will give us our basic foundation of the study. The most common forms of occultism today are; Astrology, Evil Spirits, Demon possession, Ghost, Witches, Goblins and the Satanic churches.

When a Christian looks at any subject, he or she is equipped with the Bible to determine whether or not that subject is valid or invalid. The occults mentioned above and all others that exist are all evil. They are a abomination before God. They are a damnable offense and a fracture of God’s divine commandments.

We must give a “thus saith the Lord” to prove our case. Is it wrong to read your “Horoscope”, do you believe it to be true? If the answer is “yes” then it is Wrong! You may say, “I don’t see anything wrong with it.”

We get our horoscopes from the field of Astrology. It is defined by Webster’s as; “The study of the positions and aspects of celestial bodies in the belief that they have an influence on the course of natural earthly occurrences and human affairs.” This occult teaches that the Sun rotates around the earth (which the opposite is true). This would also throw off their time table. So that you will be a month or two off from your true horoscope sign. Your horoscope is suppose to guide you in your daily affairs according to the stars. God’s holy word should be your guiding light through your daily affairs and choices. A damnable error occurs here, when we put out trust and confidence in man’s inventions. God knew man would have a problem discerning right from wrong. Remember; “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” (Proverbs 14:12). So God gave us the bible to guide us in every situation that comes up (2Tim. 3:16-17).

Why is Astrology wrong? Because man seeks what God has not given him. Man is willing to trust in the foolishness of star gazers, even over the word of God. The prophets of old never gave advice like you would find in horoscopes. Things like; financial advice, what is going to happen to you today and your romantic encounters. What will happen in your job, etc. We should not seek to know the future. These people represent the Satanic occult.

What are some scriptures that teach this? the Bible says, “ Therefore shall evil come upon thee; thou shalt not know from whence it riseth: and mischief shall fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put it off: and desolation shall come upon thee suddenly, which thou shalt not know. Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail. Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee. Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame:” (Is. 47:11-15). This passage tell the king of Babylon of the destruction of his nation. God also tell him that the various people of the occult “who claim to know the future” will have no clue as to when this will happen. We see that thousands of years ago man was powerless to tell the future, even as he is today. And those that try to do so will be burned up. Astrology is a sign of idolatry. Note; we are not talking about “Astronomy” that is the scientific study of stars and has nothing to do with foretelling the future. Be very careful of the occults, (abstain from evil). Good, Day!
